Constrictive Pericarditis is a life threatening condition in which the membrane surrounding the heart becomes very thick and hence the heart cannot fill up and cannot pump the blood.
This lady had effusive constrictive pericarditis.
In spite of prolonged medication and conservative management her condition did not improve.
We did a total pericardiectomy for the lady and after that her condition has stabilized and improved.
2 Months down the lane her symptoms have completely disappeared and she is now perfectly healthy.
